LIVED EXPERIENCE

Mentors have personal lived experience of mental health recovery to support people who are on their journey of recovery.

RECOVERY FRAMEWORK

Mentors, work within the national framework for recovery-oriented mental health services

GUIDANCE

Mentors offer guidance and coaching to people who might be struggling, mentors use their recovery as an inspiration for others.

ONE TO ONE

Mentors interact with people one-on-one or in group sessions to discuss challenges or any issues people have.

ALLIANCE

The service aim is for people to perceive the Mentors as warm, trustworthy and empathic.

COMMUNITY PROFESSIONALS

Mentors communicate their stories skilfully and work with other mental health and community professionals to support people’s recovery.

UNDERSTANDING

Mentors have a comprehensive understanding of mental health, a mentor may have experienced the same condition as the person, so they can offer their own personal information.

PROBLEMS

Mentors empathise with people and understand the difficult situations that people face as they have encountered similar experiences and/or circumstances.

INTEGRITY

Mentors speak honestly about mental health and some challenges that they have experienced firsthand, mentors discuss uncomfortable subjects with people when necessary.
